Solution:
We had to get back to the Microsoft support team in order to fix the issue immediately. According to them the issue was caused by a windows security update. Therefore, they asked us to remove (uninstall) the KB974571 windows security update from all the LCS servers & Reboot. This fixed all of our issues & the services were online immediately after the server reboot.
Microsoft is investigating this issue, and will determine the most appropriate way to address it. Until they find a proper solution, the workaround is to uninstall the KB974571 windows security update. This solution applies to the Live Communication Server 2005 & the Office Communication Server 2007 too.
It was very easy for us to uninstall the update as we were using the WSUS server to deploy the windows updates. However, if you are not using the WSUS in your environment, then pls follow the below instructions to remove the security update.
- Go to the [Control Panel], and then select [Add/Remove Programs].
- In the [Add/Remove Programs] window, select [Show Update] check box (available in the Top Right hand corner).
- Now pick the KB974571 from the windows security update section & click [Remove] to uninstall.
- Finally, reboot the server.
