Software Prerequisites for the System Center Data Protection Manager 2007
Posted on September 19th, 2009 in Data Protection Manager
Here are the requirements that you should consider prior to install the System Center Data Protection Manager 2007.
- You must select a single-purpose, dedicated server. Do not consider your Domain controller or any other Application installed server for this purpose.
- If the selected server is a part of a cluster, then use the Cluster Administrator Tools to remove the server from your existing cluster.
- If you have chosen Windows 2003 to host DPM, then install the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) update rollup package. For more details see the Knowledge Base article 940349. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/94034
- If you have chosen Windows 2003 to host DPM, install Windows Powershell 1.0 prior to the DPM installation. For more details see the Knowledge Base article 926139. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=926139
- If you have chosen Windows 2008 to host DPM, install the Single Instance Storage (SIS) prior to the DPM installation. For more details refer the following link. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb808814.aspx
Are there anymore prerequisites…? Yes, but we don’t worry about those as Microsoft has packed everything else in the DPM setup. But if you prefer following the manual route, then I would suggest referring the below link prior to any action. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb808839.aspx
